Cessna Electric 172 Skyhawk Personal Sport Plane
Taking flying into the future, Cessna is planning to build a 100% electric aircraft. They have teamed up with Bye Energy Inc. (a company that specializes in all-electric planes) to build an engine for their proof-of-concept 172 Skyhawk. This electric personal sport plane will be taking off by the year’s end. Based on the popular 172 Skyhawk, the electric version will also be a four-seat, single engine aircraft – all that’s different is the switch to an electric propulsion system.
