2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD
In the validation unit of the new 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD heavy trucks, engineer Brent Deep drag 20,000 pounds (9072 kg) trailer from 245 miles (400 km) along the I-70 between Denver and Grand Junction, Colorado – and almost did not touch the brakes along the road.
Deep is based on a new Chevrolet Silverado, bright exhaust brake system to stop the truck or trailer on the descent, helping test the new system is suitable for the most demanding conditions. It is a journey through the heart of the Rocky Mountains and some steep values of the interstate system, with a height ranging from approximately 5,000 feet of Denver (1525 m) to more than 11,100 feet (3400 m) at the Eisenhower Tunnel.
“It takes courage to leave the foot of the brake, but the engine of the Chevrolet Silverado Duramax and Allison transmission get the job done smoothly and beliefs that really impressed,” said Deep. “Better yet, exhaust brake system can help extend the life of brake pads and help prevent excess heat from the brakes on a long descent.”
Characteristic exhaust brake system is only one element that makes the new 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD models of the most capable in the industry. Which went on sale this summer.
“We are looking for customer feedback during the development of the Chevrolet Silverado 2011 HD truck to offer that meets or exceeds all their needs,” said Jim Campbell, general manager of Chevrolet. “It offers the power and greater ability – including class-major fuel economy, towing and payload ratings – and has the power, accelerates faster and has lower emissions. Sounds like a definition that is not compromised.”
